Among the April events on the occasion of the International Jazz Day is the concert Ania Paz Trio live on April 12th at b flat in Berlin, Dircksenstraße 40, 10178 Berlin (Mitte).
Ania Paz, Peruvian and Spanish pianist and composer, is known for her modern and driving sound, impregnated by an original new fusion of Afro-Latin styles within the Jazz language.
She was recently featured among the top female jazz instrumentalists of Mexico by Jazz magazine Bop Spots. Jazz journalist Estefania Romero comments:
“Ania Paz from Peru has gained a special place in the jazz core of Latin American. Her tours around Mexico have made us fall in love with her distinguishable voice as a composer and as a piano player.
Her work reflects intelligence, creativity, structure, knowledge, but also sensibility towards the vast universes of the classical music and Latin America folklore.
All these abilities are usually highlighted by the notable communication and the unique energy Ania tends to show with those who work next to her, whereas recording or on stage. Her improvisations are spectacular!
She is an innovator and she knows how to speak to us.“
She is the leader and founder of the Ania Paz Trio in Berlin, Germany, a group with a unified vision as soloists and rhythm section that perseveres on the creation of a new sound in Contemporary Latin Jazz. This new project reflects the spirit of freedom, peace, integration and experimental art that Ania has experienced in this city since her first visit.
On the drums, Christoph Hillmann is considered to be a particularly sensitive, detailed and powerfully-swinging multi-stylist between world music, various jazz traditions and avantgarde. On the double bass, Carmelo Leotta is a musician established throughout Europe who has embraced the diversity of musical trends such as jazz, blues, electronic and world music.
Ania Paz has connected her work to several universal values, such as bringing cultures and countries together through music, the integration of artistic disciplines, the promotion of contemporary composers´ current works, and social responsibility.
