Celebrating International Jazz Day, the Ania Paz Trio will perform at PUCP University on Friday, April 28th at 19:00, Malecón Grau 477, Chorrillos, Lima, Peru.
The CAFÉ JAZZ is part of the Festival Jazz Lima 2017, an important initiative that has been working during the last years on promoting musical offers of this genre in our city, on creating new jazz projects, and on consolidating a jazz scene in Lima.
At the same time, the Music Department at the PUCP Performing Arts Faculty and the Ania Paz Trio join efforts to celebrate through this concert the International Jazz Day designated by UNESCO, a journey that raises awareness of the need for intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, and reinforces international cooperation and communication.
The Peruvian pianist and composer has connected her work to several universal values, such as bringing different cultures together through art, the integration of artistic disciplines, the promotion of current innovative compositions, and the inspiration to the community.
With Franco Alcázar on drums and Coco Cabanillas on bass, the Ania Paz Trio is a group with a unified vision as soloists and rhythm section that perseveres on the creation of a new sound in Contemporary Latin Jazz. They successfully participated at the Festival de Música Contemporánea Erart, the Sonidos y Sabores del Mundo TV show with Mabela Martínez, and at the Festival Internacional de Vibráfono y Marimba Vibraciones, among others. Their recent singles and videos are regularly presented at the Movistar Música TV Channel, and are a part of the Dos Mundos CD, produced in the Dominican Republic and Peru. In addition, the Trio is currently working on a new production of recent Paz jazz compositions inspired in Peru.
The event is an invitation to the student community and the general public to enjoy the universality and multiculturality of Jazz; a style that inspires to transcend boarders, to innovation, and to creative freedom.
